3 Things on Every Business Owners Mind

Last week I was visiting businesses across York Region as part of a large scale Digital Main Street project. We’re helping to bring businesses into the 21st century to ensure that they can compete with the big guys on and off mainstreet.
I met with business owners of all kinds: independent cafes, clothing stores, insurance brokers - the list goes on. After many conversations I realized something: while all the businesses were different, most of them had the same questions, struggles and concerns.
Here were my 3 takeaways from a week on the road:
1. Business owners are overwhelmed by social media.
What to post? When to post? (and sometimes how to post?) Business owners find social media super intimidating and have a hard time figuring out what strategy to take when promoting their business.
2. They don’t have time for social media.
With a million and one things to do in a day, and a dozen hats to wear, the last thing business owners have time for is capturing that perfect IG pic or writing a blog post.
3. They know social media is important.
The majority of business owners, even those who weren’t on Facebook recognized that being online was essential to running a business in 2019. They see it being used all around them in the business world, but breaking in and establishing a presence seems daunting.
Conclusion
Bottom line is, if you’re a small business owner and time and overwhelm are your major social media hang-ups, you’re not alone. And we’re here to help.
