Imagine strolling along the streets of downtown Heritage Perth on a sunny, Saturday afternoon.
As you make your way through town, you’re given a new outlook on the stories behind the buildings, the businesses and the people that have created our little town over the past 200+ years.
These cultural and culinary tales will be shared with you as you meander through some of Perth’s best restaurants and bakeries, tasting and savouring their food.
When you leave the tour, your belly is full and your head is filled with some unforgettable stories and experiences that’ll stay with you for years.
WELCOME TO THE PERTH WALKING FOOD TOUR…
What, in the name of macaroons, is a walking food tour, you ask?
For just seven weeks, Cat’s Cove Communications will be offering the Perth Walking Food Tour every Saturday from May 13 to June 24, 2017.
Essentially, it’s a three-hour guided tour where we’ll take you on a prescribed route. Throughout the tour, the tour guide will share some stories from the town’s past that you’ve never heard of before. It’s not your typical small-town history lesson. Instead, you’re gonna hear some jaw-dropping stories about the town’s culinary and cultural makeup.
Think, less like a Grade 6 history class and more like a backstage pass at a Celine Dion Vegas Show. Without all the hairspray.
OKAY, WE’RE GETTING OFF TRACK…
While you’re hearing these stories, you’ll be stopping in at six to eight of the downtown core’s restaurants and bakeries, where you’ll be given samples of their best offerings. Hint: don’t eat lunch.
Each Saturday’s tour is limited to 16 participants, which will make it a unique and personable experience. When you do the math, that means that only 112 tickets are available over the course of the seven-week tour (16 tickets x 7 weeks = math test aced!).
We’ll be launching the Walking Food Tour from the Perth Museum each Saturday afternoon. There, you’ll be greeted by friendly Perth Tourism staff, and we’re thrilled to have support from the Town of Perth on this project.
The Walking Food Tour first launched last spring, and it was a big hit! Each tour sold out and the participants raved about the experience.

Hear it from past tour takers!
The energetic local tour guide was absolutely charming and really made the stories and tales of Perth’s past come to life. As we toured the streets architectural features and buildings that we had driven and walked past thousands of times, we viewed from a different perspective with unfamiliar anecdotes and tales of days long past bringing the history of our town to life. And the FOOD….we tasted delicious samples prepared especially for us, often accompanied by a visit from the chef or restaurant owner who would share a tale or tidbit of info about the establishment or its original owners that added something personal to the experience.
I can’t recommend this tour highly enough – whether you are visiting our town for the first time, or have lived here all of your life, it is guaranteed that you will leave feeling full of history, Perth pride….and yes, just full!
